Here is our position at noon today. We crossed the Equator at 7:58 pm last night and are now 4 degrees south latitude. It is a sunny day and the temperature is 82F as usual. We are experiencing 7 foot swells so the ship is moving about a little. I have not been wearing a patch but put another half on this afternoon. We will be arriving at the Marquesa Island of Nuku Hiva tomorrow morning and will be anchored in the bay all day. We will have to use the tender boats to go ashore as there is no dock here and very limited things to do.
At 11:00 am today King Neptune arrived and he held a ceremony on the pool deck for first time cruisers who have crossed the Equator. I explained that in yesterday's posting. As I said, this was the 7th time we have crossed the Equator aboard a ship so we did not have to take part in the ceremony. I think this was one of the best ceremonies I have seen. It sure was funny. I got lots of photos but you really had to be there to appreciate it.
First guy will be reading the charges of the "accused" and following him are those who will carry out the sentence.
Here are the "barber" and the "blind doctor" who will carry out sentences too.
These are the "accused" criminals being led by pirates.
Court will be held here
Louise and Alicia, two of the dancers, are going on trial.
Preparing the operating room for carrying out sentences
Here is King Neptune arriving to hold court
King Neptune is followed by his royal court
Our Captain has been summoned by King Neptune
The first accused, a passenger, is pleading not guilty but found guilty by all present.
His sentence is to be shaved and hair cut by the barber. Applying whipping cream as shaving lather.
One of the dancers is accused of eating all the fruit onboard so passengers had none.
He pleads not guilty but is found guilty and sentenced to be operated on.
You can't see it very well but catsup from sqeeze bottle is squirted to simulate blood.
Of course "guilty" and preparing to be operated on
His guts (spaghetti) during operation
Louise and Alicia were accused of trying to break into door of bridge at 3am to wake the officer on duty and give him a massage.
Guilty of course
The operation
It is a custom on Regent that all "Pollywogs" (passengers who have crossed the Equator for the first time) to all come and kiss a fish.
Pool deck buffet was Tex-Mex
The internet is slowing down today. Not sure if it is a satellite or ship problem. Hope we have satellite coverage for the rest of this cruise. This evening is another "James Bond Martini Cocktail Party" at 6:00 pm. Later tonight, after dinner, is another "Beattles Night Dance Party".
