Our position today at noon
Another beautifully sunny day here at sea. It was a bit windy last night causing the ship to move about some but not really bad at all. Less wind today resulting in a better ride but still some normal Pacific Ocean swell. Well, it is much cooler today. At noon it is 72 F. I was sitting out on our balcony for awhile this morning but was chilly so came back in. Not complaining as know most of my readers are really cold today.
We had a nice evening yesterday. Did not go to the "James Bond Martini" party but had our cocktails in the Horizon Lounge. It was pretty much empty as most had gone to the Bond party. Dinner last night was up at Sette Mari, At night they open one side of La Veranda, the breakfast and lunch buffet restaurant, and convert it into an Italian restaurant. It is a slightly more casual dress place to dine. I ordered veal parmesan and the first photo is what they brought out the first time.
I sent it back and told them I wanted LOTS of marinara over it, then LOT of cheese, and finally they should but it under the broiler to get cheese browned. The second photo is what I ate!!
We finished dinner at 8:15 and had planned on going to the Beatles Night Dance Party at 9:45. Went back to our suite and I was relaxing on the bed. Rebecca finally made me recoup and go down to the party an hour later. She loves to dance and I don't. The band played all the old Beatles tunes and the cruise director, singers and dancers took turns singing while everyone danced. Rebecca went out and danced with some of the male dancers while I watched. Alicia, pictured below in white dress talking to some other passengers, came by and asked me to dance but I foolishly said, "no thanks".
The ballroom dance couple gives dance lessons so maybe I will go to some on the next segment from LA to Tahiti. I tried dance lessons on another cruise but lasted only about 5 minutes before I gave up.
Usual routine this morning. There was a reminder card on our door saying we had Prime 7 reservations for dinner tonight. We don't usually dine there on "formal dress optional" nights and tonight is one. We prefer to dine in Compass Rose, the main dining room, so we can see everyone and the menu on formal nights is usually one of the best ones. Here is tonight's menu.
One of our favorite dishes on cruise ships is "Beef Wellington", plus I'll have them throw on a lobster tail to help wash it down!! Why?? Because I can!!
Also this morning I had to go down and cancel the Prime 7 reservation and made one for Wednesday evening, the night we leave Los Angeles on the second segment of our cruise. I also stopped by and talked with Iria, the Excursion Desk manager, about some of my tours on this cruise. We met Iria on our 2012 Circle South America 72 day cruise. In fact she was with us for our 3 day excursion to Cusco and Machu Picchu. She is a super nice young lady. I agreed that we will dine with her and Elda, the assistant cruise director, one night next segment. They are having a "seafood extravaganza" up on pool deck for lunch today. We decided to have room service cajun chicken Ceasar salads again today for our lunch. Better to stay away for the buffets!
Ok, this evening at 6:00 pm is the "Krew Kapers" show and Captain's Farewell Reception in the showroom. Most of the passengers will be leaving us in LA as it is the end of the first cruise segment. Anyway, another Regent cruises tradition is for the crew to put on a show for the passengers to say goodbye. Some of them are very talented and the show is always very entertaining. They are from all over the world and try to showcase some of their traditional dances. After dinner the headline entertainer for the 9:30 show is Greg Bonham. We have seen him on another cruise and know that his show will be very good. He is an Aussie who has sang and played the trumpet all over the world but lately in Las Vegas. It's going to be a fun night!!
At noon tomorrow we will be docking near the downtown area of San Diego.
