Thanksgiving Day here on Maui
We hope everyone is having a nice Thanksgiving with family and/or friends. As I start writing today's posting it is 11:00 am here which is 3:00 pm back in the central time zone. I guess most of you have already stuffed your faces with a wonderful turkey dinner and some are settling in front of the tv to watch football. Our plan for today was to cancel our glass bottom boat tour and find a place close by on shore to watch the Cowboy's game. We had the ship's concierge looking for a place that was open today but no luck. Our dock is in the cargo area and a fair walk into town. We have alternating sun then light rain showers passing over with a stiff wind blowing so have given up on watching the game. Instead we have ESPN on one of my laptops and will watch the "gamecast". This is not the video of game, but rather, the play-by-play in writing. Better than nothing! Will also have room service lunch during the game. Salad for Rebecca and pizza for me.
Last evening there was a special pre-dinner show for all the Seven Seas Society members (people who have 75 or more nights sailing on Regent ships--we have 364 nights). The show was a local Honolulu singer named Danny Couch plus some hula dancers. We had cocktails after the show and then a wonderful dinner in Compass Rose restaurant. We had french fried soft shell crabs for an appetizer followed by salmon baked in a pastry for entree. Both were WONDERFUL.
At 5:30 this evening there will be a "Mini Thanksgiving Day Parade" down in atrium and continuing on deck 6. Here is the menu for Compass Rose tonight. You will have to left click on it to enlarge it so you can read it.
The show tonight is a singer/ventriloquist named Michael Minor. Not really our cup of tea but will probably go check him out for awhile anyway. Well, we were scheduled to leave here at 7:00 this evening for our short trip over to the port of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. But the Captain came on PA this morning and said we will be leaving an hour earlier because of the high winds. Seems that the winds die down at sundown for a while. Sunset is 5:50 today here. Looks like I may have time this afternoon to put my Kauai photos on the blog. We are enjoying the view out our balcony today as the white capped waves come crashing in.
